It should not come as a shock to anyone that a McCain is going around bashing the Republican Party.  It is refreshing, somewhat, that her first name is not John.

However, Meghan McCain has apparently become the Republican’s new Patti Davis.  Meghan has discovered that if you trash other Republican’s on mainstream media outlets they will love you and invite you back.  Like father like daughter.

I would be fine with Patti, I mean Meghan, if our circumstances as a party were a little different.  If a true conservative politician held the White House or if conservative Republican’s held even a strong minority somewhere in this country.

Alas, it isn’t true and Meghan McCain is the new Patti Davis lecturing the Republican Party on how we just are not moderate enough.  How we just are not open enough to accept a younger generation.  In a recent article from UPI.com:

Appearing as a co-host on ABC's "The View," McCain was asked about her recent assertion that Rove was "creepy" because he follows her on Twitter, the microblogging Internet service. She said Rove's time of political relevance has passed, the New York Daily News reported.

"You've had your eight years," she said. "Now go away."

By way of explanation, McCain said was singling Rove out "more as a metaphor" for Republicans who think the party can attract younger voters just by buying into the latest technology. She said the party would do better with young voters if it would be more accepting of moderates.

"Stop telling me I don't have a place," she said.

Meghan, I agree with you the Republican Party needs to do more than get on Twitter and Facebook.  However, our losses these last few elections were not because of a lack of moderate view points.  In fact, it was a moderate Republican Party that was more interested in holding on to power than sticking to principles. Conservative principles which made us the dominant party for decades.

It was the moderate view point that has created a cynical public that does not trust the GOP to stand for less government and personal responsibility.  Instead it has created a power vacuum filled by an ideology that has a chance to forever change the face of free markets and government.
